No reaction of the printer

I have tried it from iPad G3 with iOS 6, but it did not work with my printer (Canon MF8050Cn, colour, laser), connected via ethernet to a wireless router. :-(
I absolutely do not understand how printing works from Linux or Windows, but until now I did not find any app to print from iPad or iPhone!
And I absolutely do disagree to run a print server ...!
